Known especially for their exquisite hausgemacht (homemade) cakes, Wartmanns Café has earned a stellar reputation for serving the best Apfelkuchen in the area. Imagine biting into a perfectly baked apple cake, where the crust is buttery and flaky, yielding to tender, warmly spiced apples that evoke the essence of a lovingly made family recipe. Alongside this signature dessert, their variety of homemade ice creams offers a creamy, refreshing alternative that delights guests on warmer days. While some reviewers have noted the ice cream could be a tad more refined, the heartfelt craftsmanship behind each scoop is unmistakable, making it a truly authentic treat.

The café’s inviting outdoor seating area is a real gem, especially during sunny days when you can bask in the warm glow while enjoying scenic views of the canal. It’s an ideal spot whether you’re resting after a leisurely boat ride, a bike trip, or a peaceful walk through the surrounding parks. Adding to the warm and welcoming vibe, Wartmanns Café embraces visitors with friendly service and makes a thoughtful gesture by allowing dogs inside, highlighting the relaxed, inclusive atmosphere. During summer months, the café transforms part of its outdoor area into a lovely Biergarten, featuring BBQ offerings that enhance the casual yet convivial dining experience. It’s this combination of quality, comfort, and charm that makes Wartmanns stand out as more than just a café — it’s a treasured meeting place for locals and travelers alike.

History buffs will appreciate the café’s intriguing backstory, which adds a layer of cultural richness to each visit. And after indulging in their homemade delights, guests are just minutes away from exploring the enchanting Jagdschloss and its idyllic gardens, perfectly rounding off a day of delightful discovery in Potsdam.

A nice place to stop by for a snack when you’re strolling in the park.

Absolutely the best Apfelkuchen in Potsdam! All the cake here is hausgemacht as well as their ice cream. They have a large outdoor area where you can enjoy the view and the sun. The service is very kind and dogs are allowed inside. Absolutely recommended!

Nice, quiet and together with the park a hidden gem of Berlin!

Great location with a delicious ice cream and cakes

Nice location at the water w some basic food, ice cream and drinks. Prices are ok, ice not as good as we are used to but still seems to be home made. Ice coffee could me more advanced. Location details very nice made. Great to come around by boat, bike or feet.

Very lovely cafe and Biergarten, with a choice of BBQ offerings in the summer. Very lovely ambience at Teltow Kanal, and certainly a place to stop at when booking from Berlin to Potsdam.

Lovely shop with great ice cream! Perfect if you want to have something to cool down after a great walk or exploring Potsdam/ Klein Glienicke. Be sure to also have a look at the history of the place, as it is rather interesting. And if you’re there you can also check out the Jagdschloss with its lovely garden!
